Infant Safe Sleep at our birthing centers and at home
The team at the Christ Hospital Birthing Centers are committed to the safety and health of your baby while they are under our care and in the home. That’s why we are trained on and strictly adhere to American Academy of Pediatrics safe sleep guidelines. We also instruct families on safe sleep practices during their stay and provide them with educational information for the home. These guidelines include:
Back to Sleep for Every Sleep – Placing babies on their back for all overnight sleeps and naps until one year of age or until they are able to roll over on their own.
Use a firm, flat, non-inclined, and safety-approved sleep space (crib, bassinet, or placard).
Feed and promote use of breast milk to reduce the risk of death for families who are able to do so.
Share your room, not your bed.
Place baby in bare crib.
Use a pacifier to reduce the risk of death.
Dress for sleep: Avoid overheating and safely swaddle.
Keep up with all medical visits and vaccines.
Research baby products before buying.
Practice Tummy Time.
Spread the Safe Sleep Message.

Preparing for baby
Online registration is now available for a variety of childbirth classes. (Please note by clicking this link, you’re leaving The Christ Hospital Health Network website and will be registering through Eventbrite.com).
Learn more about how to prepare for baby by downloading valuable resource guides for childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding, and infant safety.
Newborn Insurance
In order to make sure that your newborn is sufficiently covered by insurance prior to your delivery, we ask that all expectant mothers delivering at The Christ Hospital fill out the Mother/Infant registration form prior to delivery. Please download, complete and return this form to your obstetrician's office.
When the big day arrives, your birthing center care team will be ready, partnering with you to make this special experience everything your family expects. All care for the baby, from baths to exams, will be done in-room as you and your family learn about, and bond with, your new addition. Some women may also choose to bring a doula with them—also known as a birth companion or post-birth supporter.
If an unexpected complication occurs, high-risk obstetricians are on call 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Our
NICU provides newborns specialized care and attention so they get the best start possible. Newborns as early as 23 weeks receive individualized care from our experienced staff.
Once the dust settles, you may wonder where to get information on a birth certificate. The birth certificate is obtained from the Ohio Department of Health Vital Records, and you can
order one for your baby through their website, or by calling 513-352-3120.
Let us help you prepare to greet the newest member of your family. Talk to your doctor and plan a visit soon.
