Exceptional Training and Experience at a Distinguished Heart Hospital

The Christ Hospital Adult Cardiology Fellowship offers comprehensive hands-on and didactic training in cardiovascular disease, with an emphasis on helping fellows develop fundamental skills and the ability to serve patients with compassion and respect. We hope to produce cardiologists who have a lifelong passion for meeting the needs of the diverse communities they serve.

Teaching is central to our mission. Our curriculum gives fellows broad clinical exposure to acute and chronic cardiovascular care, as well as extensive experience in non-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures. The program’s world-class faculty of 20+ cardiovascular specialists provides comprehensive training in all cardiovascular subspecialties, including cardiovascular imaging, cardiac catheterization, structural heart disease, adult congenital heart disease, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, critical care, women’s heart disease, preventative heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced heart-failure (including LVAD and heart transplant). Clinical research opportunities are available for fellows starting in their first year. Fellows will also have access to a simulation lab for Echo, TEE and Cardiac Catherterization.

Our three-year, ACGME-accredited program fosters an environment rich in collegiality and support. Fellows will be paired with a mentor from our faculty, who provides guidance and support throughout the training experience. We provide supply trainees with the resources they need to maintain their physical and mental well-being, including a wellness program and on-site gym. Social events offer opportunities for faculty members and fellows to connect on a more personal level.

Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship welcomes interest from physicians who are committed to a career in cardiovascular medicine and prepared to immerse themselves in a dynamic, multifaceted training program. Additionally, the program requires the applicants to have the following:

MD or DO
Completion of a three-year ACGME-accredited residency program by time of entry into fellowship

Applications to the Program

Applications can be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

The ERAS Common Application Form should include:

A complete CV
Personal statement
USMLE board score reports
Two letters of recommendation and one letter from a cardiology specialist the applicant has worked with
Recent color photograph

Application deadline is August 16, 2024. Interviews will be held virtually and take place during September of 2024. Four fellows will be selected for the program that will start in July of 2025. The Carl H. and Edyth Lindner Heart Failure Treatment Center, a 28-bed inpatient unit on the seventh floor of The Christ Hospital, offers medically complex care and support to help patients adapt to the challenges of living with heart failure.

An International Leader in Clinical Cardiovascular Research

Fellows who are interested in pursuing their research interests will find extensive opportunities to do so through our affiliation with the Carl and Edyth Lindner Center for Research and Education. The center, part of The Christ Hospital Health Network, is an international leader in clinical cardiovascular research. The center offers more than 160 active clinical trials at any given time, produces more than 150 peer-reviewed publications a year and hosts educational forums for both physicians and consumers. The impact of our work transforms cardiovascular care and brings new treatments to patients in Greater Cincinnati, long before the treatments are available elsewhere in the country.
