We offer in-person and virtual childbirth education courses and tours to prepare expecting parents and their families for their newest additions. Your safety is our highest priority. All participants of in-person classes and tours musts follow any relevant safety and health ​precautions. 

All classes, except our breastfeeding class, are provided for a fee. Registration and payments for classes and birthing center tours are managed online through Eventbrite.

We offer free tours of our Birthing Centers so you can meet our highly trained care teams, see the many options you have for your birth, and get a feel for the thoughtful touches we've put in place during your stay with us.

Whether you are carrying on a family tradition by delivering at our Birthing Center in Mt. Auburn or starting a new tradition at our Birthing Center in Liberty Township – we want your delivery to be exceptional.

In-Person Childbirth Education Classes

Baby Care Basics

This 2.5-hour class is designed to educate parents about the basics of baby care, including typical newborn characteristics. Safety issues discussed include a review of car seat safety, safe sleep, safe feeding practices, home safety, bathing safety and more. Basic diapering and care principles.

Breastfeeding Classes

This 2.5-hour class is designed to educate parents about the basics of breastfeeding, including latching techniques, normal breastfeeding infant behaviors, milk supply guidelines, how and when to incorporate pumping, and troubleshooting common concerns.

Lamaze Five-Week Series

This class is designed to educate parents about the basics of the birth process, including vaginal and cesarean deliveries, with a focus on Lamaze healthy birth processes and breathing. Options for pain relief are reviewed and information regarding different interventions is discussed. Class meets five weeks in a row. The date listed is first day of class and classes will occur weekly at the same time and day of the week. Wear comfortable pants, bring two pillows and a sleeping bag or comforter for floor exercises. 

Natural Childbirth Course

This four-hour class is designed to educate parents about the basics of the birth process, with a focus on achieving the most natural birth that you are comfortable with. Options for pain relief are reviewed and information regarding different interventions is discussed. 

Prepared Childbirth One-Day Course

This five-hour course is designed to educate parents about the basics of the birth process, including vaginal and cesarean deliveries. This is not a Lamaze Class. Options for pain relief are reviewed and information regarding different interventions is discussed. This course is offered at both our Liberty and Mt. Auburn locations. Please feel free to bring a lunch or purchase a lunch on site.

Save a Baby - Infant and Child CPR

This course is designed to educate parents about the basics of baby safety and infant CPR using the American Heart Association guidelines. This class is instruction only. A CPR card will not be issued. 

Sibling Class

This 90-minute class helps prepare big brothers and sisters for the arrival of the new baby.  During this class, siblings-to-be learn how a new baby looks and acts, and how to adjust to their new brother or sister. Make sure the sibling-to-be brings a doll or stuffed animal to practice holding and diapering. This class is recommended for ages three to 12 years.

Understanding Birth eClass

Can’t come to a childbirth class? We’ll bring it to you! Consider the Understanding Birth eClass your go-to guide for answers you can trust on childbirth. This interactive online module course covers essential information on labor and more, and highlights ways partners can help throughout the process. You’ll also get a sense of what labor is really like as you watch several birth stories. 

Virtual Baby Care Class

Parents will learn about the basics of baby care including normal newborn behavior and characteristics. Infant safety issues including car seat safety, safe sleep, safe feeding practices, home safety, and bathing safety are discussed. Basic diapering and care principles are included.

Virtual Breastfeeding Class

We will discuss normal newborn behaviors, feeding patterns, positions and attachment techniques, recognizing your infant is getting enough milk and common questions and concerns about breastfeeding.

Virtual Comfort Measures Class

In this one time, 2 hour class, participants will learn and practice strategies to prepare for labor, non-pharmaceutical comfort techniques for labor such as positioning, counter pressure, and creating a comfortable labor environment. Techniques will be discussed to aid in unmedicated labor as well as to complement pain medication, including an epidural, in order to facilitate labor progress as well as comfort. It is assumed that participants will have either taken the Prepared Childbirth class or are already knowledgeable of the stages and phases of labor. It can be helpful to have a comfortable space to practice some of the positions and hands-on comfort measures during the class.

Virtual Prepared Class

In this one-time, 2 hour virtual class, families will learn about the basics of the labor and birth process including anatomy & physiology of labor, basic labor preparation, and stages and phases of labor and vaginal birth. Additional supplemental information about birth interventions and cesarean deliveries will also be provided.

This class pairs well with the Virtual Comfort Measures Class, which builds upon information presented in the Prepared Comfort Class with labor positions and comfort techniques to aid in labor progress and comfort, with or without an epidural.

Virtual Today's Grandparent Class

Today's Grandparent Class is a virtual class which includes up to date  information about baby care and safety. Topics for the class include baby care and safety, newborn feeding, holding, diapering, and dressing a baby, care seat information, postpartum depression, Sudden Infant Death Syndorme (SIDS), and safe sleep.
