Dr. Bernheisel received his undergraduate from Bowling Green State University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his residency at The Christ Hospital -University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Program.

Dr. Bernheisel is board certified in family medicine by the State Medical Board of Ohio and the American Board of Family Medicine. His areas of interests include resident teaching and international healthcare.

Dr. Bernheisel has been named a Cincinnati Magazine "Top Doctor" multiple times, is a recipient of numerous awards over the years in recognition of his outstanding teaching and mentorship from residents.

He has presented lectures both regionally and nationally and has numerous peer-reviewed publications, primarily in American Family Physician and the Journal of Family Practice.
