About Ankit K. Bhatia, MD

Dr. Ankit Bhatia is a cardiologist focused on the care of advanced heart failure patients, including those with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and cardiac transplants. He specializes in the care patients with genetically-mediated heart conditions, specifically Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Additional practice areas include cardio-oncology and South Asian cardiovascular care.

Dr. Bhatia was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. He completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude. He subsequently completed his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he also stayed on to complete his Internal Medicine residency. He then transitioned to St. Louis, where he completed his General Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology fellowships, prior to joining The Christ Hospital.

Dr. Bhatia serves as Co-Director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic, the only HCMA-certified Center of Excellence in the greater Cincinnati region. He is passionate about advancing the care of HCM patients in our community by pushing the standard-of-care. He serves as Principal Investigator on numerous HCM-related clinical trials, helping to bring multiple novel therapies to the region. He was also selected as one of five leaders nationally to lead the American Heart Associated-sponsored HCM Best Practices Summit. He serves as the main regional educator for the novel myosin inhibitor mavacamten, and focuses on partnering with other health systems to provide HCM patients the most-cutting edge care.

Dr. Bhatia also is focused on enhancing heart failure care through novel technologies. He serves as director of the Heart Failure Remote Monitoring Program at Christ. Prior to his arrival at The Christ Hospital, he completed an Innovation Fellowship with BJC/Washington University Healthcare Innovation Lab. His current role focuses on growing and optimizing number heart failure remote monitoring technologies, including CardioMEMS and implantable device-based heart failure diagnostics.

He has multiple national publications and book chapters, focused on HCM, clinical innovation and heart failure.

He enjoys exploring the city with his wife, a Cincinnati native, and two young children. He enjoys Orangetheory Fitness, cycling, travel, and Syracuse basketball.
