James Wendel, MD, is a is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians who specializes in Obstetrics & Gynecology. He sees patients at the Mt. Auburn, Mason, and Montgomery locations of Mt. Auburn Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates. He has served in the past as President of The Christ Hospital Medical Staff and currently serves as Board Chair at The Christ College of Nursing & Health Sciences.
Dr. Wendel was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. He has provided care to patients at Mt. Auburn OBGYN for more than three decades with the same commitment to treating them with the highest level of care and respect. As an OBGYN who has delivered countless babies, he considers it a great honor and privilege to have been a part of the most memorable moments of so many families’ lives. He encourages his patients to always celebrate and be grateful for all of the good that they experience.
He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame and his Medical Degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He also completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. He has twice earned the Elbert Nelson Award and once the George B. Haydon Award from the University of Cincinnati, both for excellence in surgical teaching. He has also been named multiple times to Cincinnati Magazine’s list of top doctors.
Dr. Wendel is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. He is a member of the Ohio State Medical Association, the Cincinnati OB-GYN Society, and the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine.
When not providing care, Dr. Wendel enjoys performing live music and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
