Janice Rafferty, MD, is the Chief of Colorectal Surgery and Director of Surgical Oncology Services at The Christ Hospital Network. She has over 25 years of experience diagnosing and treating complex colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancer, anal cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, complex proctology, pelvic floor disorders, and other digestive disorders.
Dr. Rafferty is an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO). She is a Senior Examiner for the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, an ad hoc reviewer for several surgical journals, and has served as a scientific reviewer for the Department of Defense. Dr. Rafferty has always been an educator of surgical residents and staff in Cincinnati, which was honored by Carl H. and Edyth Lindner in 2007 with an endowed Chair in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Rafferty was the longtime chair of the Peer Review Committee in Surgical Services and is part of the Graduate Medical Education Committee at The Christ Hospital. She previously served on the American Cancer Society Hamilton County Branch Board of Directors and the Cincinnati Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Dr. Rafferty has been honored by "Speaking of Women's Health" for her contributions to colorectal cancer care in the Cincinnati area. Dr. Rafferty has given scientific presentations and invited lectures in the Cincinnati area and on the national and international stage. She has authored many peer-reviewed scientific articles and textbook chapters and has co-edited major textbooks in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
