Edward V.A. Lim, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating injuries and disorders of the knees, hips and shoulders. His focused expertise is in total knee, hip and shoulder replacements.
Committed to positive patient outcomes, Dr. Lim feels helping patients feel better is a privilege. “The best part of my job is being able to make a positive difference in other peoples’ lives,” he says. He takes pride in knowing his patients feel he’s easy to talk with and that he takes time to listen to their questions and concerns.
To share his lifelong passion for healthcare with others, Dr. Lim serves as director of the Christ Hospital Orthopedic Fellowship Program. In this role, he trains young orthopedic surgeons, many of them from his home country of the Philippines, about the latest, cutting-edge joint replacement techniques.
Dr. Lim earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship and surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center before completing orthopedic fellowships in Hannover, Germany, Davos, Switzerland, and the University of California San Francisco.
A longtime board examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Lim is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the American Orthopaedic Association. Named a “Top Doctor” by Cincinnati Magazine multiple times, Dr. Lim is a frequent invited lecturer at educational courses throughout the United States and Asia. He also serves as chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Christ Hospital.
Beyond his care for patients in Cincinnati, Dr. Lim is also a participating surgeon at several hospitals in the Philippines, including the non-profit Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City – which is supported by the Tim Tebow Foundation – where he frequently returns to perform surgeries for orthopedic patients in need. “Giving patients their lives back is a gift,” he says. “It’s a gift I give willingly.”
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Julia, and their three children, Elizabeth, Meredith and Edward, and granddaughter Calliope.
