Dr. Gupta specializes in cardiac electrophysiology which is the treatment of electrical problems of the heart. He performs many procedures to treat atrial fibrillation and other heart arrhythmias.
Dr. Gupta was born and grew up in Kanpur, India. He knew from the time he was 14-years-old that he wanted to be a doctor and came to his career through his fascination with EKGs, the electrical recordings of the heart. After medical school, he worked in cardiology in India before practicing in England for five years. He came to America in 1994 to complete his residence and fellowship.
Since joining The Christ Hospital, he has done more ablation fibrillation procedures than almost anyone else in the Cincinnati area. Dr. Gupta's desire to take care of people and help them feel better is his driving motivator to keep up his rigorous schedule.
Dr. Gupta's wife, Jean Elwing, is also a physician, specializing in pulmonary hypertension. He has a grown stepdaughter and two cats. In his spare time he enjoys watching tennis, playing chess, reading and traveling the globe.
