Danielle DiPerna, MD, is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Obstetrics & Gynecology who specializes in Maternal Fetal Medicine and treats patients at the Mt. Auburn and Liberty Township locations.
Dr. DiPerna was inspired to pursue a career in medicine and continues to be inspired in her work by her grandmother, who was proud to be high school graduate when not many of her siblings were. She was also a strong advocate for women to seek and receive quality medical care, which even after her passing continues to be a driving force for Dr. DiPerna. “I often imagine her hands on my shoulders, supporting me when I have to deliver difficult news to a patient,” she says.
Each person and each pregnancy are unique, a fact which informs Dr. DiPerna’s approach to providing care. “My job is to listen to each patient with respect and compassion and to understand their unique issues and to answer all questions truthfully,” she says. “Some medical processes are complicated, and I will do my best to ensure that each patient fully understands what is happening with their body and their pregnancy.” She advocates for her patients to continue to ask questions until they fully understand their options so they can make the best decisions for themselves.
Dr. DiPerna acknowledges that patients who require care from a maternal & fetal medicine specialist are generally facing a challenging situation, but she affirms her commitment to helping them through it. “All pregnancies are full of wonder and joy,” she says. “After all, it is the creation of life. But sometimes there are some tricky paths that we need to navigate to get to that beautiful prize. We will do this together.”
Dr. DiPerna earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and completed a post baccalaureate pre-medical program at Columbia University. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics & gynecology and a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at the University of Southern California. She is certified in obstetrics & gynecology and maternal fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She is a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, as well as a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
When not providing care, Dr. DiPerna enjoys reading mysteries and quilting. She has been married for more than 25 years with two grown children and she enjoys family time when they come home to visit on vacation and holidays.
