Meghann Rouse, MSN, WHNP-BC, is a Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Gynecologic Oncology. She provides inpatient and outpatient care for women who are being treated for gynecologic cancers at The Christ Hospital Cancer Center in Mt. Auburn.
Meghann was inspired to pursue a career in nursing, specifically at The Christ Hospital, after learning about a labor and delivery nurse during her own birth at the hospital who discovered something wrong while caring for her mother. This nurse’s intuition and attention to detail resulted in an emergency c-section that saved Meghann’s life. “It was always my mission to get a job at Christ Hospital and return the favor for saving my life,” she says.
After achieving her goal, Meghann later had a stillborn daughter, which inspired her to further her career as a women’s health nurse practitioner. “It was my daughter who inspired me to dedicate my life to helping women who are facing difficult situations,” she says. She remains a strong advocate for pregnancy loss awareness.
Meghann believes that her patients should be their biggest advocates and empowers them to have a say about their care. “They know their health and their bodies better than anyone else,” she says. “Sometimes even the smallest complaint can provide a very important detail about what’s truly going on.” She also reminds her patients that a positive attitude and allowing themselves to enjoy a good laugh can do a lot for the healing process.
She earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University, and a Master of Science in Nursing as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati. She is certified by the National Certification Corporation.
Meghann’s greatest joy in life is being a mother. She also enjoys crafting, watching true crime documentaries, and relaxing in the calm and quiet of the mountains.
