Kristin Scott, MS, APRN, ACCNS-AG, CCRN, is a board-certified advanced practice registered nurse who specializes in inpatient care for patients with heart failure with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Heart & Vascular. She has more than a decade of nursing experience, with most of which includes critical care of cardiovascular and cardio thoracic patients.
Kristin realized at a young age that she had a strong interest in helping others, but it was an illness to her great grandmother that helped her discover her calling to be a nurse. “I saw that I could make her smile simply by sitting with her, as well as by helping her with her daily needs,” she says. “I realized that it not only made her feel better, but me, as well.”
She places great value on using evidenced based practices, research and education when providing care. “It has always been my approach to include those to improve quality outcomes and overall care delivery,” she says. She also believes that open communication and honesty are important for a successful patient/provider relationship and reminds her patients that by providing a specific health history and being truthful about how they feel, they give as much input toward a successful diagnosis as any exams. “Always ask questions,” she adds, “especially if you don’t understand something your provider says.”
Kristin earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wright State University and a Master of Science in Nursing with an Adult Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist Tract from Kent State University. She is board-certified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
When not providing care, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, especially staying busy with her children’s sports. They also enjoy spending time outdoors and travelling to the beach.
