Pair of Doctors at The Christ Hospital Named to Best Prostate Cancer Oncologists & Surgeons List

America’s Best Prostate Cancer Surgeons List Named by Newsweek

CINCINNATI (June 27, 2024) – Justin Cox, MD, Anish Shah, MD, both urologists at The Christ Hospital Health Network, have been recognized as two of America’s Best Prostate Cancer Surgeons for 2024 by Newsweek. The complete list can be found on Newsweek’s website. This marks the first edition of best prostate cancer oncologists and surgeons list that includes 150 doctors nationwide.

“It is an honor to be named to America’s Best Prostate Cancer Surgeons list,” said Dr. Cox. “Being recognized by both our peers and patients means they see The Christ Hospital Health Network as a destination for prostate cancer care. This highlight is a testament to the high quality of care that our entire team at The Christ Hospital delivers to every patient.”

One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their life, the most common form of cancer in men behind only skin cancer. The American Cancer Society reports that the prostate cancer death rate was cut in half between 1993 to 2013 thanks to earlier detection and better treatment options.

“Being named to America’s Best Prostate Cancer Surgeons List by Newsweek means our team is held in high esteem not just here but across the country,” said Dr. Shah. “As we continue to grow our oncology program at The Christ Hospital Health Network, being highlighted by such a prestigious list shows we are doing everything it takes for our patients.”

The list is based on four data sources:

•Physician Performance Data: Based on Medicare data from CareJourney, an evaluation of the physician’s performed procedures was conducted.

•Online Survey by State: During the survey period from March to April 2024, thousands of medical experts (physicians with knowledge in the field of vascular surgery, managers/administrators and other medical professionals in the field of prostate cancer surgery) were invited to an online survey via Newsweek.com.

•Quality Score: Rating from each specialist’s peers.

•Certifications: Board certifications by The American Board of Urology, Radiology and Internal Medicine were taken into consideration for all eligible surgeons.
