The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Awarded The Christ Hospital a 5-Star Rating for 2022.

The Christ Hospital Earns Highest Rating for Quality by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid

The Christ Hospital is the only hospital in Cincinnati to achieve a five-star rating from CMS in 2022

CINCINNATI (August 4, 2022) – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings on its Hospital Compare website for 2022. The update shows The Christ Hospital has maintained its five-star rating, which is the highest rating given. This year, The Christ Hospital is also the only hospital in Cincinnati to receive five stars.

CMS’ star rating system, which launched in 2016, assigns stars based on 47 measures in the following five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care. CMS rated more than 4,500 hospitals with the following breakdown: one star: 198 hospitals, two stars: 702, three stars: 895, four stars: 895, five stars: 431.

The Star Ratings help hospitals drive systematic improvements in care and safety harnessing the power of process improvement to improve quality and lower costs. Consumers and patients point to Hospital Compare and the Star Ratings as important resources by which they determine who their provider of care will be.

“The CMS Star Rating system is validation for our community that we continue to have everything it takes to care for them,” said Debbie Hayes President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “We are delighted to have, once again, achieved the highest rating offered by CMS. This distinction is made possible only by the dedicated team members across our organization. Their passion and commitment to excellence and fulfilling our mission of improving the health of those we serve is palpable every day.”

“This year’s ranking is particularly a point of pride as this comes after our talented team members handled the COVID-19 pandemic,” said John Kennedy, MD, Vice President for Medical Affairs. “We are proud to share this distinction for the second year in a row. Patients that choose The Christ Hospital Health Network can be confident the safety, quality and overall healthcare experience meets the highest standards given by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.”

This award comes on the heels of The Christ Hospital being named the #1 Hospital in the Cincinnati Region for the eighth year in a row by U.S. News & World Report, The Christ Hospital Health Network being named a Great Place to Work by Fortune and achieving the outstanding patient safety award for the sixth year in a row by Healthgrades.
