After-Hours Injury? The Christ Hospital Orthopedic After-Hours Clinic Has You Covered

My friend Kelly has six kids, and it feels like she is always running them to and from this or that. They each play different sports, from soccer to tennis to cheerleading to marching band. She’s busy all the time.

One day during a soccer game, her son took a tumble and thought he broke his leg. Of course, it was a Friday evening, and her normal orthopedic office was closed. She called me on the way to the ER, and I told her how I had just learned about The Christ Hospital Orthopedic After-Hours Clinic.

It was the first she had heard of it, so I had to fill her in. Luckily, she took her son in, and it wasn’t broken. Just a deep bruise. It occurred to me that some people may not be too familiar with the after-hours orthopedic clinic.

About the clinic

The Orthopedic After-Hours Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 5 – 9 p.m. It is located inside The Joint & Spine Center at the main hospital campus in Mt. Auburn, which was built in 2015 and is a fantastic facility — all dedicated to orthopedic care.

The After-Hours Clinic can manage everything from broken bones, sprains and strains, bumps and bruises, acute injuries, sports injuries, back and neck injuries, new work injuries and other orthopedic injuries. One of the best things is that all imaging is done on-site, so you don’t have to travel all over the place for your X-rays or other images. Appointments are not required, but you can call ahead to 513-585-BONE to reserve your spot.

Who will see you?

When it comes to who will be providing the care, you will be seen by a nurse practitioner or physician assistant at the clinic that specializes in orthopedic injuries. They will be able to assess your condition, provide treatment options (non-surgical and surgical), as well as set up any follow-up appointments as necessary.

And speaking of convenient care, the After-Hours Clinic is 100% focused on orthopedic care, which can mean shorter wait times compared to a trip to the emergency room or urgent care where the providers are caring for a wider range of illnesses.
