Individuals disabled by an illness or injury face difficult adjustments and major lifestyle changes that often go beyond physical limitations. By providing a supportive, caring environment, emphasizing patients’ abilities rather than disabilities, our Inpatient Rehabilitation Program strives to help instill in patients the confidence needed to achieve their maximum level of functional independence and to regain the lives they treasure. To do this, we are transforming the way inpatient rehabilitation is provided, focusing not simply on helping improve function in our patients, but doing so with unique activities, a supportive environment and compassionate staff to maximize each patient’s outcome.

Our patients include adult and geriatric individuals who require early, intensive therapies for optimal recovery from conditions such as stroke, brain injury, neurological disorders, amputation and major multiple trauma who have experienced a loss of function in activities of daily living, mobility, cognition or communication. Patients must be medically stable but have medical needs at a level to warrant an ongoing hospital stay. This program does not currently serve patients who are ventilator-dependent, comatose, or have complete quadriplegia or burn management needs.

Our Qualifications

The Christ Hospital currently holds the highest level of Accreditation - a three-year Accreditation - from CARF International for Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Services as well as an additional Accreditation for Inpatient Rehabilitation Stroke Specialty programs. These accreditations represent the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
