Lauren Ord, MD, is a physician who specializes in Obstetrics & Gynecology with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Obstetrics & Gynecology. She provides care to women at the Mt. Auburn and Anderson Township locations.
Dr. Ord learned from her mother about the importance of caring for other people – a lesson that helped her decide at a young age that she wanted to be a doctor. “For me, being a physician helps to fulfill her lesson because it allows me to meet people where they are and help them achieve their health goals,” she says. Her own healthcare experiences during adolescence and their associated misconceptions and anxieties also contributed to a desire to become an OB/GYN. “My aim as a physician is to create a safe healthcare space for all my patients."
When caring for her patients, she begins by learning what their individual goals are. “Once those goals are established, we can work together to find the best and safest way to achieve them,” she says. She encourages her patients to always be their own advocates. “Never be embarrassed to ask for help or to speak up,” she says. “You know yourself better than anyone else.” She reminds them that they can always reach out after an exam, visit, or procedure if they have additional questions.
Dr. Ord earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Duke University before earning a Master of Public Health in Public Health Leadership from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health. She received her Medical Degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Ord moved to Cincinnati with her husband and their two cats Annie and Meatball. She enjoys biking on trails, trying new coffee shops and restaurants around Cincinnati, and gardening - especially when growing hot peppers. She and her husband also love to travel, especially to their favorite destination – Costa Rica.
