Margaret “Abbey” Moon, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in Family Medicine with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Primary Care. She provides care to patients of all ages at the Montgomery Family Medicine location.
Dr. Moon learned how stressful it can be for patients and their families to navigate the healthcare system after witnessing her mother’s struggles with a chronic illness. The compassionate care that was provided to her mother and her family during her mother’s years of suffering inspired her to pursue a career in medicine so that she could deliver that same level of compassionate care.
Her philosophy of care is to listen and then listen again. “Each patient brings a unique story to their health journey, and it is my absolute honor to bear witness to it,” she says. “The healing process for each patient is unique and first requires a deep understanding of their narrative. A true partnership requires mutual trust and understanding in order to set goals and begin the process of meeting them.”
Dr. Moon urges her patients to be in touch with their own story and reflect often on their personal health journey and goals, and to be prepared to share that story honestly to help their providers get a deeper understanding so they can better guide them toward their health goals.
She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame and her Medical Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Michigan and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
When not providing care, Dr. Moon and her husband, who is also a physician, enjoy spending time with their children. They love to hike, explore nature, and dote on their dog. In her own quiet time, Dr. Moon enjoys cooking and reading fiction.
