Physician at The Christ Hospital Health Network Named Family Medicine Educator of the Year

Award Presented to Megan Rich, MD, by The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians

CINCINNATI (August 11, 2025) – The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) is pleased to announce that Megan Rich, MD, Program Director of The Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency Program, has been named Family Medicine Educator of the year for 2025.

This prestigious award honors family medicine educators who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication in medical education, inspired learners as a role model in family medicine, and actively engaged with their academic communities.

As program director for The Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency Program and professor of family and community medicine, Dr. Rich has transformed medical education through her innovative curriculum development and passionate mentorship. Her leadership of UC's Longitudinal Primary Care Clerkship paired more than 200 medical students with primary care physicians in a nationally unique program, while her curriculum redesigns and faculty development initiatives have strengthened residency training despite challenges like the COVID pandemic.

“It is a humbling experience to be named as the family medicine educator of the year by The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians,” said Dr. Rich. ““I hope that graduates of the program will look back and know how well they were supported during these formative years and that they remember how much I cared for them. I want to thank my colleagues at The Christ Hospital and UC for being so supportive and great members of the medical community to work with.”

Dr. Rich earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She completed her residency in family medicine at The Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati residency program where she also served as chief resident.

Dr. Rich is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

The OAFP and The Christ Hospital Health Network congratulates Dr. Rich for this honor and thanks her for exemplifying the best qualities of Ohio’s family physicians and doing everything it takes for our community. To learn more about all of the 2025 awards, please visit the OAFP website.
