The Christ Hospital Earns “A” Grade for Patient Safety

The ‘A’ Grade is the Highest Mark from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade Report

CINCINNATI (May 1, 2025) – The Christ Hospital has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade Report for Spring 2025. The nation’s most prestigious award for patient safety measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. Only 28 hospitals achieved an “A” grade in Ohio.

“Leapfrog’s “A” rating remains the gold standard for patients and their families looking for the highest safety measures in the healthcare industry,” said Debbie Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “We are honored by this distinction and remain committed to not only maintaining these high standards but continuously raising the bar for what safe, effective and compassionate healthcare should look like. Our team members remain committed to doing everything it takes for the safety of all of our patients.”

An “A” grade is one of the most meaningful honors a hospital can achieve and one of the most valuable indicators for patients looking for a safe place to receive care. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national independent nonprofit.

"All hospitals should be proud to earn an 'A,' but they should not rest on that laurel,” said Leah Biner, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "Sustaining an A over multiple years reflects a deep-rooted commitment to patient safety."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
