About John D. Corl, MD

Dr. Corl grew up on the east side of Cleveland where he graduated from West Geauga High School in Chesterland, Ohio. Dr. Corl moved to Cincinnati in 1987 to study engineering at the University of Cincinnati. As an engineering student, Dr. Corl worked at General Electric Aircraft Engines and the Danis Construction as part of the University of Cincinnati co-op program. While studying engineering at the University of Cincinnati Dr. Corl was inducted to the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society, Mortar Board Senior National Honor Society, Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges, Golden Key National Honor Society, and Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering National Honor Society. Dr. Corl also earned the Phi Delta Theta Educational Foundation Scholarship. Dr. Corl was named to the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering Dean's List thirteen out of fifteen quarters and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1992.

Dr. Corl remained in Cincinnati after completing his undergraduate studies to attend the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Corl was awarded the Sherman and Frances Battles Johnson Educational Scholarship and the Francis Goldsmith Educational Scholarship. Dr. Corl earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree in June 1997 with a dean's letter ranking in the "Excellent" category. He continued his medical training in Cincinnati as an internal medicine resident at The Christ Hospital.

Dr. Corl trained as a cardiology fellow at the University of Kentucky in July of 2000. After completing his cardiology fellowship in 2003, Dr. Corl remained at the University of Kentucky as an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. In July of 2004 Dr. Corl started a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Kentucky.

In July of 2005, Dr. Corl and his young family moved back to the Cincinnati area. Dr. Corl worked as an interventional cardiologist in private practice at Northern Kentucky Heart for two years before joining Ohio Heart and Vascular Center in August of 2007.

Since joining Ohio Heart and Vascular center in 2007, Dr. Corl has grown as a physician. He credits this growth to the exceptional learning and work environment provided at The Christ Hospital and Ohio Heart and Vascular Center. Dr. Corl feels fortunate to work side by side with highly specialized and prestigious leaders in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Corl currently specializes in interventional cardiology, clinical cardiology, peripheral vascular interventions, echocardiography, and placement of cardiac pacemakers. Dr. Corl has performed well over 10,000 invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures. Dr. Corl remains heavily involved in clinical research through the Carl and Edythe Lindner Research Center at The Christ Hospital. Over the years, Dr. Corl has been a principal investigator or sub­ investigator in hundreds of clinical trials.

Dr. Corl is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and interventional Cardiology. Dr. Corl was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), as well as the Society for Cardiac Angiography and interventions (FSCAI) in 2006.

When Dr. Corl is not working, he can be found spending time with his busy family of five children. He enjoys cycling, running, and playing golf. Dr. Corl's wife Maureen currently works at The Christ Hospital as Advanced Practice Provider.
