Jonathan Stofer, MD, MPH, is a board-certified family physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Primary Care in Mason, providing comprehensive outpatient care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Stofer is committed to equity and inclusion in healthcare. As a partner to his patients, his goal is to ensure everyone receives healthcare free from discrimination. “I approach every patient with the same care and respect I would offer my own family, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender identity or sexual orientation,” he says. “I deeply value Family Medicine that embodies compassion, mutual respect, relationship building, teamwork, and comprehensive care.”
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Pre-Medicine, with minors in Psychology and Chemistry, from Indiana Wesleyan University. He completed both his Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. During his graduate training, Dr. Stofer focused on global health and was inducted into the Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society. In recognition of his compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, he was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and participated in the Global Health Scholars Program, where he was selected for the Global Citizen Award.
Dr. Stofer completed his family medicine residency at Kettering Health’s Soin Family Medicine Residency Program, where he served as chief resident and was recognized as Ambulatory Resident of the Year for excellence in outpatient family medicine, patient engagement, and collaborative care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Stofer is the founder and director of the Rural Amazonian Health Initiative, a nonprofit organization that delivers essential medical services to remote communities in the Peruvian Amazon. His work includes global health outreach, research, and direct care focused on improving health outcomes in underserved populations.
Dr. Stofer’s clinical interests include global health, travel medicine, preventive care, chronic disease management, pediatric care, reproductive health, and LGBTQ+ care, including gender-affirming care and HIV treatment and prevention (PrEP). He states “I strive to create a welcoming, respectful environment where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healthcare decisions.” He values relationship-based medicine and is committed to building trusted, respectful partnerships with patients and providing inclusive, evidence-based care across all stages of life.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Stofer enjoys reading, hiking, running, traveling, caring for plants, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with his husband and their dog.
