Mary Markham-Feagins, CNP is a board-certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Heart & Vascular who specializes in cardiovascular critical care. She provides inpatient care at The Christ Hospital Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in Mt. Auburn.She chose a career in healthcare for the opportunity to utilize her passion for applied science to make a positive impact on others’ lives. “I enjoy interacting with patients and their families, hearing about their unique healthcare experiences, and assisting them with their recovery from critical illness,” she says. Mary combines her patient-focused approach to critical care with a philosophy geared toward restoring wellness per guidelines established by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. “This approach recognizes the particular vulnerability of ICU patients with the goal of minimizing the attendant effects of ICU care,” she says.She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York at Brockport, and a Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Indiana University. She is AGACNP certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and trauma-certified by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nurses. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. /br>In her free time, Mary enjoys exploring and hiking at state and national parks, and reading classic science fiction.
