Rachel O’Brien, APRN, is a board-certified advanced practice registered nurse with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Heart & Vascular who specializes in clinical cardiology. She provides outpatient care at the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Clinic in Mt. Auburn.
She has extensive experience in providing care across multiple disciplines as both a registered nurse and as an advanced practice provider. She was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by her father, who is a cardiovascular thoracic surgeon.
The focus of Rachel’s philosophy toward providing care is fostering a compassionate and trusting relationship with each of her patients. “I strive to approach each encounter with empathy, active listening, and respect for their autonomy and individuality,” she says. She prioritizes open communication, involving patients in their care decisions, and providing the knowledge to empower them to make informed decisions. “I encourage my patients to always be their own advocates,” she adds. “Having the confidence to ask any questions, voice any concerns, and to be an active participant in your care is paramount to getting the best outcomes out of your healthcare journey.”
Rachel earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
When not providing care, Rachel values spending time with her husband and their three sons who are active in sports. She also enjoys running and reading.
