Douglas Saunders, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, then returned to Cincinnati for his Fellowship in General Internal Medicine at University Hospital. Dr. Saunders is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and received acupuncture training at the Academy of Pain Research in San Francisco, CA. His areas of interest include hypertension, diabetes, nutrition, exercise, and general wellness.
Dr. Saunders has received recognition for excellence in the delivery of care by Bridges to Excellence (BTE) and the Heart and Hand Award from the Visiting Nurse Association. He was also named one of Cincy Magazine's Best Docs for Internal Medicine in 2022 and 2023.
He impacts the lives of patients through hands-on care and is recognized as providing compassionate, transformative care that goes above and beyond standard protocol.
When not treating patients, he enjoys cycling, running, swimming, and triathlon. When not on his bike, he can be found baking cakes and pies or at the piano. He and his wife love traveling to visit their four children across the country and everywhere in between.
