Robert Kulwin, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle surgery. He graduated from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a degree in molecular and cellular biology. He completed medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Illinois. After finishing his residency training at Indiana University, he returned to Chicago for his foot and ankle fellowship at the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute.
Dr. Kulwin is particularly interested in chronic ankle instability, an area of ongoing research for him. He was awarded a research grant from the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society to determine why chronic ankle instability happens. He also has a strong background in total ankle replacement, revision total ankle replacement, and complex lower extremity deformity.
He is an active member of both the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). Dr. Kulwin currently serves as a reviewer for the Foot and Ankle Content Committee for AAOS. He has also been named by Cincinnati Magazine as one of the top doctors in Cincinnati.
Dr. Kulwin is a Cincinnati native. When not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Alexandra, their twins and dogs, Clarkson and Cousteau.
