Diagnosing
menopause
Menopause affects each woman differently. You may have
no symptoms or only mild ones that don’t disrupt your life. But if
you are dealing with symptoms that are extremely uncomfortable, such as intense
mood swings, insomnia, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, depression or anxiety, The
Christ Hospital Health Network is here for you.
We understand menopause and know that you may need
help managing your symptoms. If menopause
is seriously impacting your quality of life, schedule an appointment with one of our women’s health specialists.
After reviewing your symptoms, your doctor may suggest a blood test to check your hormone levels. Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) increases during menopause, while estrogen levels decrease.
A blood test showing low thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) can indicate an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), which can cause symptoms like those of menopause.
