About heart rhythm disorders
A heart rhythm disorder, or arrhythmia, is caused by an issue with the heart's electrical system. There are three main forms of heart rhythm disorders:
The heart beats too quickly (tachycardia).
The heart beats too slowly (bradycardia).
The heart beats in an irregular pattern.
While not all heart rhythm disorders are dangerous, some could signal a more serious heart problem.
Heart rhythm disorder symptoms
Not all arrhythmias cause symptoms. In fact, many people learn they have a heart rhythm disorder from their physician during a routine exam.
However, if you do experience one or more of the following signs and it seems unusual (e.g., fast heartbeat when you are not exercising), contact your physician immediately.
