Manisha Patel, MD, FACS, is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Heart & Vascular, specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery. She has spent her entire career in Cincinnati and will now be treating patients at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, OH as part of The Christ Hospital’s Heart and Vascular partnership with Premier Health.
Dr. Patel is an experienced Cardiothoracic surgeon with a collaborative approach to patient care and program development. In 2015, she was recognized by Venue/LEAD magazine with the Comprehensive Healthcare Leadership Award and in 2016 was invited to present their Great Leaders Under 40 Awards Keynote speech, about the design and implementation of a brand-new Cardiac surgery program.
Her commitment to putting the patient first and treating each individual with integrity and compassion is at the core of Dr. Patel’s care philosophy. This approach has earned her top scores from her patients across ratings platforms and to be consistently named as one of Cincinnati Magazine’s Top Doctors, including a 2019 cover feature.
After studying at the New England Conservatory of Music, Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Music from Wellesley College. She then joined the laboratory of preeminent surgeon Dr. Shukri Khuri in Boston and was inspired to pursue a career in cardiac surgery. After graduating from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, she completed a residency in General Surgery at the University of Vermont - Fletcher Allen Health Care and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. She is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
An accomplished classical pianist, Dr. Patel is an avid supporter of the performing arts. She has explored the connection between music and wellness in her hospital based “Keeping the Beat” series and continues to enjoy performing locally from time to time as her surgical schedule will allow!
