Dr. Fixler received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He went on to train in New York where he earned his board-certification from the American Board of Family Medicine and completed additional training in surgery and emergency room medicine.

Inspired to pursue medicine by his father, a practicing dermatologist in Cincinnati for more than 50 years, Dr. Fixler specializes in general family medicine. He also has a special interest in diabetes, regularly participating in ongoing diabetic research and in 2002; he co-founded Diabetic Services of Cincinnati, a local education endeavor.

In 1991, Dr. Fixler joined Dr. Frank Perrino's practice and together they joined The Christ Hospital Physicians in 2009. Dr. Fixler and his wife, Chris, have two sons.
