Dr. David R. Fischer has held the positions Division Chief of General Surgery and Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at The Christ Hospital since 2011. He is a partner of The Christ Hospital Physicians - General Surgery and consults patients in Mt. Auburn and Mason. Dr. Fischer practices a full spectrum of general surgery offering patients laparoscopic as well as robotically-assisted surgical technique options.
Dr. Fischer is a board-certified general surgeon by the American Board of Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati (UC), College of Medicine. He also completed his general surgery residency, as well as a research fellowship in the Department of Surgery at UC's College of Medicine.
He has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on topics related to general surgery. He is a professional member of a variety of national medical associations across the country, including Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
For the last nine consecutive years, Dr. Fischer was awarded the Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence from medical students of the UC's College of Medicine and the best doctor in Cincinnati from Cincinnati magazine. Multiple other distinguished awards were received for excellence in teaching, research and education.
