Dr. Pradeep K. Bekal graduated from Madras Medical School in Madras, India, and completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. His Gastroenterology Fellowship was completed at the Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Bekal also completed an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Board Certified in Gastroenterology, he has a special interest in endoscopic modalities of treatment in complex pancreatobiliary disorders. He is proficient in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and was one of the first physicians in the Tristate to do these advanced endoscopic procedures. He is proud to be listed as a Top Doc in Cincinnati Magazine’s annual survey of local providers.
Along with patient care, Dr Bekal is also a principal investigator on numerous clinical trials at the practice. His trials look at the efficacy and safety of new drugs to treat IBD, IBS, and esophagitis. He is the Director of Endoscopy at The Christ Hospital. He is actively involved in teaching medical students from the University of Cincinnati and residents from Christ Hospital and serves as a preceptor for undergraduate students at Miami University (Ohio). He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a longtime member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr Bekal serves on the executive committee of the national Digestive Health Physicians Association, works in the community to raise awareness of GI health, and is on the board of a local cultural advocacy group. He is married with two children and is interested in travel.
