Shree Lata Radhakrishnan, MD, is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Heart & Vascular who specializes in cardiovascular disease. She provides women’s heart care to patients of The Christ Hospital Women’s Heart Center at the Montgomery and Ft. Wright locations.
Watching generations of her family struggle with heart disease inspired Dr. Radhakrishnan to develop a fierce passion for fighting heart disease with a focus on preventative cardiology. She has great enthusiasm to be able to apply this passion and energy to providing care at The Christ Hospital’s dedicated Women’s Heart Center.
Dr. Radhakrishnan approaches care as a team effort with her patients with one goal in mind – their health. “I strongly believe in the importance of open communication and a patient’s ability to make informed and shared decisions about their care,” she says. “We are here to listen to you and fight heart disease together, with a focus on both treatment of existing conditions, and also on preventative care.” She advocates for her patients to be proactive in improving their health by eating healthy, staying active, thinking positively, and surrounding themselves with positive people.
She earned her Medical Degree from Vinayaka Missions Medical College at Pondicherry University in India before completing an internship at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, and earning a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from Northwestern University. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis where she served as Chief Resident. Following her residency, she served as an internal medicine hospitalist at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston and as a part-time instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. She then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Louisiana State University where she was presented the Raja Dhurandhar Cardiovascular Disease Outstanding Fellow award. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.
In her free time, Dr. Radhakrishnan values time with her family, especially when she and her husband take their son to the park. She also enjoys trivia, classical music and opera, stand-up comedy, trying unique vegetarian restaurants, and travelling. She stays active outdoors by hiking and kayaking. She is also a sports fan and follows tennis, cricket, and world cup soccer.
