Fred Gonzales, MD, is a physician specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Obstetrics & Gynecology. He treats patients at the Mt. Auburn, Mason, and Montgomery locations.
Dr. Gonzales developed a curiosity about the human condition as he watched his grandmother succumb to complications from diabetes when he was young. He decided to pursue a career in medicine to be able to make a difference for people who were facing similar circumstances to his grandmother.
He acknowledges that his patients know their own bodies better than any provider and uses that knowledge as a foundation to his philosophy for providing care. “I listen to their concerns and counsel them on their options before we decide together on the best option for their individual preferences and circumstances,” he says. He works to build a trusting relationship between patient and provider through open communication and he encourages them to be open and honest about their medical history and how they are feeling to allow them to work together for a better outcome.
Dr. Gonzales earned a Bachelor of Science in both Human Biology and Health and Society from Cornell University. He holds a Master of Science in Modern Human Anatomy from the University of Colorado, where he also earned his Medical Degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
In his free time, Dr. Gonzales enjoys spending time outdoors with his partner and their huskies. They especially enjoy hiking and working in their garden. He also enjoys maintaining his house plant collection, drawing, and singing.
