About Monika Moni, MD

Monika Moni, MD, is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Primary Care , who specializes in Family Medicine. She sees patients of all ages at the Mason location.

Dr. Moni comes from a family with a tradition of natural healing practice such as Ayurvedic medicine. She credits this tradition along with her natural talent of great communication and empathetic listening skills for choosing a career in medicine. “It allows me to heal and be an advocate for people with limited medical knowledge or resources, ” she says. She adds that her greatest professional accomplishment is the trust her patients have in her, and she feels rewarded seeing the tangible impact of that trust in their overall health improvement.

Educating patients about the effectiveness of prevention through a healthy lifestyle is foundational to Dr. Moni’s philosophy toward care. “In addition to the management of chronic disease, I like to focus on the basic foundations of health including a balanced diet, physical activity, mental wellbeing and other lifestyle factors,” she says. “By educating patients and addressing the barriers in their life I can empower them to take control of their health and create a personalized approach to their wellbeing through shared decision making. I believe this approach can not only help my patients but can be beneficial for the community as a whole.”

Dr. Moni earned her medical degree from Tirunelveli Medical College and graduated as the Best outgoing resident in her Family Medicine Residency at the University of North Dakota where she also served as Chief Resident. She has held several leadership positions in the past including being Medical Director of a weight management program. She is an active teacher of Family Medicine to medical students. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians.

Outside of her profession, Dr. Moni is also a happily married wife and a mother of two. She loves reading, gardening and is well known for being a passionate cook and great host for social gatherings. She loves adventure and travel and has been to several countries in each continent and hopes to cover more in the near future.
