Meron Hirpa Kassa, MD is a board-certified physician, and a public health professional with The Christ Hospital Physicians-Primary Care who specializes in internal medicine. She sees patients 18 years and older at the Yankee Rd. location in Liberty Township.
Dr. Hirpa Kassa was inspired to pursue a career as a primary care provider because of her passion for helping people live their healthiest and longest and healthiest life possible regardless of socioeconomic status. She focuses on a whole-person approach to care where she acknowledges the influence of biological, behavioral, social and environmental factors on well-being. “My goal is to provide the best and individualized care to each patient by combining the best available evidence and my clinical expertise with the individual patient’s respective values, beliefs, and preferences,” she says.
This approach to individualized care and respect for her patients’ values have helped Dr. Hirpa Kassa earn some of her proudest achievements such as membership into exclusive honor societies such as Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Society in medical school, a Diversity Recognition Award from Johns Hopkins University, and an Excellence in Service award from the City of Cincinnati.
Dr. Hirpa Kassa is also passionate about clinical education, quality improvement, health equity and community-based participatory research. She teaches medical students and residents in her clinic and has authored numerous publications on topics such as value-based care, patient and physician relationships and diversity and inclusion in medicine. She was most recently awarded the Community Advocacy, Partnership and Research Award and Integrating Special Populations Award from the Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training.
Dr. Hirpa Kassa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience with a Certificate in Culture, Health, and Science from Amherst College. She earned her Medical Degree with a track in Local and Global Health Equity and Honors in Research from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency with a focus on primary care medicine, urban health and quality improvement and completed a Community Primary Care Champion Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Hirpa Kassa enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
