Amie Bender, AGACNP-BC is a Certified Nurse Practitioner with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Heart & Vascular who provides critical care for cardiothoracic surgery patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
Amie has vast experience as a registered nurse but pursued a career as an advanced practice provider because of the value she sees in improving patient outcomes by collaborating with other professionals and the patients themselves in making direct decisions about patient care. The center of her care philosophy is a belief that having a full understanding of each respective patient and an accurate assessment of their needs helps providers and their patients make the right decisions about their care. She urges patients to remember the importance of preventative care. “It’s important to focus on day-to-day decision making, which has a greater impact on health than patients may realize,” she says.
Amie has a diploma in nursing from the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Ohio University, and a Master of Science as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Wright State University. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
When not providing care, Amie enjoys cooking, traveling, spending time on the water, and spending time with her golden doodles. She is proud to have watched her children grow into good, happy adults.
