Kayla Smith, FNP, is a family nurse practitioner with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Diabetes & Endocrinology.
Growing up with Type 1 Diabetes, Smith is passionate about providing the same level of care that she credits with helping her manage the disease. She says she understands that a patient is more than just a clinical diagnosis and takes a holistic approach to providing care, which takes into account physical, psychological, social and spiritual factors. She also values two-way communication with her patients. “Asking questions, verbalizing worries, and voicing any concerns are all ways to help strengthen the relationship and reach your health goals,” she says.
She earned an associate degree in nursing from The Christ Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences, a Bachelor of Science in health sciences and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Science in nursing, family nurse practitioner, from the University of Cincinnati.
A lifelong Cincinnatian, Smith is passionate about local sports, especially the UC Bearcats. She is committed to remaining physically active and enjoys working out at the gym, long walks with her diabetic alert dog and trying new challenges such as Spartan races. She also enjoys travelling and trying new foods.
