Dr. Walter grew up in Oldham County, Kentucky. She earned an undergraduate degree from Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky, followed by a master's degree in physiology and biophysics from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. She then went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky. Following her education, she completed a family medicine residency at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, Kentucky. After losing an aunt to metastatic breast cancer, Dr. Walter realized there was a need in her to help not only patients like her, but their families as well.

When she is not at work, Dr. Walter enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, baking, hiking, boating, and traveling.
