Dr. Hasan grew up in Charleston, West Virginia, and completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating summa cum laude with honors in biology. He earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York City. He then joined the inaugural class of integrated six-year cardiothoracic surgery residents at the renowned Cleveland Clinic, where he trained extensively with world leaders in all aspects of cardiovascular surgery.
Dr. Hasan is a third-generation cardiothoracic surgeon. His grandfather was a pioneer in thoracic surgery in the Indian subcontinent. His father, who also trained at Cleveland Clinic, founded the premier cardiothoracic surgical program in Pakistan. Naturally, he gravitated towards this specialty in medical school. He was immediately enthralled by the dramatic impact cardiac surgeons have on their patients’ lives, as well as the dynamism and intricacy of the art and science of cardiovascular surgery.
In his free time, he enjoys exercise, sports, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
