Marie Rueve, MD, MHA, FAPA, is Division Chief, Psychiatry Inpatient and Consultation-Liaison Services for The Christ Hospital Health Network. Dr. Rueve received her medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and completed her residency training in Psychiatry through Wright State hospitals in Dayton, OH. She is board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry). Dr. Rueve has extensive experience in inpatient psychiatry spanning over 20 years in both general hospital and psychiatric hospital settings. She previously served as both Chief of Psychiatry and Psychiatry Residency Program Director for Geisinger Health System, as well as the Chief of Adult Psychiatry at the Lindner Center of HOPE.
Dr. Rueve earned her Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Cincinnati, is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and is an active member of the American Delirium Society and the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, including its Critical Care Special Interest Group.
At Geisinger, Dr. Rueve co-led the ICU Delirium Workgroup with the chief of Critical Care Medicine. This workgroup identified and implemented innovative, data-driven protocols for the care of ICU patients to reduce delirium. She currently collaborates with the ICU teams at The Christ Hospital to implement best practices in treatment of delirium to improve patient outcomes including survivorship, cognitive and physical function, and mental health. Her areas of interest include delirium assessment, management of agitation and psychosis, choice of sedative agents, early mobility practices in the ICU, psychopharmacology, brief psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral interventions, team collaboration, and communication best practices.
Dr. Rueve has additionally been instrumental in multiple levels of resident and medical student education at several institutions, and she enjoys innovation in teaching and learning. She has served and led committees including ethics, GME, Schwartz Rounds, and peer review. Here at TCH, Dr Rueve serves on the Physician/APP Engagement Committee, the Workplace Violence Hospital Committee, the ICU Liberation Workgroup, and Credentialing Committee. She has contributed several review articles and a book chapter.
