CINCINNATI (April 17, 2025) – The Christ Hospital Health Network hosted an event for high school students to learn the latest in robotic surgery performed at the hospital system. The event was held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 on the sixth floor of the Joint & Spine Center.
Students from Turpin High School received demonstrations and shadowed surgeons on the use of a DaVinci robot as well as learning about advancements in robotic surgeries performed at The Christ Hospital Health Network.
Janice Rafferty, MD, a board-certified colorectal surgeon at The Christ Hospital Health Network who specializes in surgery for cancer in the colon and rectum, lead the demonstrations. Because of her expertise with minimally invasive surgery using the Da Vinci robot, the average length of stay for patients after surgery for colorectal cancer is less than three days, well below the national average of almost 10 days.
