Final 50 AEDs Delivered to Police Departments Across Hamilton County

CINCINNATI (December 12, 2024) – The Christ Hospital Health Network, in partnership with Rotary Club of Cincinnati, delivered 50 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to 25 police departments within Hamilton County as part of the completion of Phase II of Project Heart ReStart. Phase II raised enough funds to purchase 100 AEDs for additional agencies in Hamilton County after equipping the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office with these life-saving devices.

The event was held at Rotary Club of Cincinnati’s monthly luncheon on Thursday, December 12 at The Transept. Speakers included Hamilton County Commissioners Denise Driehaus, Charmaine McGuffey, Hamilton County Sheriff, Steve King, 2022-2023 Past President Rotary Club of Cincinnati, Tim Holloway, Police Chief Evandale Police Department and more.

In Phase I of Project Heart ReStart, the committee, along with Rotary Club of Cincinnati, Zoll, Cintas, Hamilton County Commissioners, all Cincinnati-based hospital systems and community donors, raised $260,000 to purchase 130 AEDs for all deputy cruisers for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Through three phases of Project Heart ReStart, the committee has raised almost $800,000 to purchase nearly 400 AEDs in Hamilton, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Pendleton, Grant and Gallatin counties. Having an AED for our first responders on the scene of a cardiac event increases the survival rate from 10% to 40%.
