CINCINNATI (October 10, 2024) – Is snoring keeping you or your partner up at night? The Christ Hospital Health Network’s Aim For Wellbeing (formerly Alliance Integrative Medicine) now offers a new innovative treatment to reduce snoring and the effects of sleep apnea.
Fotona NightLase™ is a non-invasive laser used inside the back of the mouth and on the tongue to contract and tighten the tissues that vibrate during sleep due to a narrowing in the airway. This allows air to move more freely through the nose and mouth during sleep to decrease snoring and improve overall quality of sleep. The entire procedure lasts just 45 minutes.
“At least 75% of our patients list snoring and lack of sleep as issues negatively impacting their health,” said Steve Amoils, MD, medical director at Aim for Wellbeing. “Patients are often reluctant to try surgical procedures and many struggle using CPAP machines. With the Fotona NightLase™, patients do not need to undergo anesthesia and have no down time before going home for a better night’s sleep.”
The technology is the first-of-its-kind offered in Greater Cincinnati. Dr. Amoils encourages patients to track their snoring before and after the procedure by downloading a sleep tracking app on their phone. Post treatment, patients typically report improved quality of sleep and positive feedback from their partners.
Patients may require up to three treatments over the course of six months for optimal results while some will experience notable benefits after just one procedure. If you’re interested in initial consultations call (513) 791-5521 or visit www.AimForWellbeing.org. You can also view video of the procedure here.
