Volunteers have been a vital part of The Christ Hospital family since 1894.  Our mission is to “Increase and sustain the volunteer population at The Christ Hospital Health Network through identifying external and internal opportunities while developing strong relationships within the community so that we become the volunteer organization of choice. Create a mutually beneficial partnership between the volunteer and The Christ Hospital in order to provide the finest experiences”.

How to Get Started

The application deadline for the Junior Ambassador program is April 30 for summer; August 30 for fall, and December 30 for spring.

Junior Ambassadors (teens 16-17)

There is a minimum two-month commitment required (summer program) or four-month commitment (fall, winter and spring); 40 hours minimum (summer) or 60 hours minimum (fall, winter, spring) for a recommendation letter.​   


If you are able to meet this commitment, please follow the process as outlined below for how to become a Junior Volunteer.                                 

  1. Complete the online Junior Volunteer Application form​. 
  2. Email volunteer@thechristhospital.com or call 513-585-2244 to secure an interview.
  3. Secure a school recommendation. Please have the individual complete the School Recommendation Form.    
  4. Interview with one of The Christ Hospital's Volunteer Services department staff members. Bring the signed Junior Volunteer Agreement and Parent Consent form​ ​​to the interview.   
  5. Meet all junior health requirements. Please review the Junior Volunteer Health Requirements, and more details will be given during the interview if applicable.
  6. Review the New Volunteer Orientation and complete the New Volunteer Orientation quiz.
  7. Attend the mandatory Junior Volunteer Orientation. More details will be given during the interview.

College Students

There is a minimum two-month commitment required (summer program) or four-month commitment (fall, winter and spring); 

40 hours minimum (summer) or 60 hours minimum (fall, winter, spring) for a recommendation letter.​               


If you are able to meet this commitment, please follow the process as outlined below for how to become a college student volunteer.                                 

  1. ​​Complete the online Adult Volunteer Application.
  2. Email volunteer@thechristhospital.com or call 513-585-2244 to schedule an interview.
  3. Secure three references. Please bring them with you or email them prior to the interview. The Adult Volunteer Reference Form is here for your convenience.
  4. Interview with one of The Christ Hospital Volunteer Services department staff members.
  5. A health screening will be required. More details will be given during the interview if applicable. Prior to the health screening, review and sign the TB Consent Form.
  6. Review the New Volunteer Orientation.
  7. Complete the New Volunteer Orientation quiz.                                                                    

​Adults

There is a minimum commitment of six months required.                                 


If you are able to meet this commitment, please follow the process as outlined below for how to become an adult volunteer.                                 

  1. ​Complete the online Adult Volunteer Application​. 
  2. Email volunteer@thechristhospital.com​ or call 513-585-2244 to schedule an interview.
  3. Secure three references. Bring them with your or email them prior to the interview. The Adult Volunteer Reference Form is here for your convenience.      
  4. Interview with one of The Christ Hospital Volunteer Services department staff members.
  5. A health screening will be required. More details will be given during the interview if applicable. Please review and sign the
    ​A​dult TB Consent Form​.               
  6. Review the New Volunteer Orientation.

Benefits of Volunteering

                    

Volunteering at The Christ Hospital provides satisfaction by offering an important service at a well-respected healthcare institution. You know that your contribution is helping others when you work with us.                                                                                                                                                      


 

Volunteers can make new friends among other volunteers, staff, and patients.  Volunteers also receive tangible benefits from the hospital.  These benefits include free parking, $7 food voucher, free uniform, free TB test (required of all volunteers), flu shots and identification badge.                                                              


The Christ Hospital formally recognizes the work of volunteers through an annual event.  Awards are presented to volunteers who have contributed 100, 500, 1,000 or more hours of service.​                                                                                                                                                      


Who Volunteers

There is no typical volunteer at The Christ Hospital. Each person is different, bringing special skills and talents to the job. Our volunteers are men, women, retirees, employed persons, college students and high school students. Our volunteers give thousands of service hours to The Christ Hospital Health Network.


Company Involvement                           


The Christ Hospital Volunteer Department is actively seeking employees from various businesses and corporations in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Possible opportunities include Patient Gift Drives (check out what we need here​​​), Adopting a Garden at our main campus in Mt. Auburn (which would entail light gardening work), Weekend Encouragers (patient interaction), just to name a few.  If you or your company is interested, please contact volunteer@thechristhospital.com​ or 513-585-2244.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Christ Hospital offers a wide variety of opportunities for volunteers.  Some assignments involve direct patient contact, such as visiting patients or delivering mail and flowers.  Other positions provide visitor assistance such as hosting patient families in surgical waiting or helping at our information desks.  In addition, there are opportunities to assist clinical staff for volunteers interested in healthcare careers.

The Christ Hospital Foundation Guild 

In addition to these opportunities, The Christ Hospital Foundation Guild offers a unique and fun opportunity to give back to the community.  The Guild is a group of passionate volunteers who host events to raise money for equipment and services for The Christ Hospital Network. Breastmilk Donation

​The Christ Hospital birthing centers in Mt.
