John Piersma, MD

Dr. Piersma specializes in Internal Medicine Primary Care. He received his medical degree from as well as completed his residency at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Piersma was awarded the Kenneth R. Stark House Officer Research Excellence Award for his work on medication discrepancies and telephone follow-up intervention. He has completed additional training and has special interest in the management of hypertension, hyperlipidemia and sports medicine.

Dr. Piersma's medical practices focus on prevention, and he believes that the patient/physician relationship is the cornerstone of quality care. "The patient/physician relationship needs to be strong in order to ensure the best opportunity for wellness," said Dr. Piersma. "Continuity and communication provide the foundation for long-term patient/physician relationships."
