Rehabilitation after joint replacement surgery
Following
a joint replacement procedure, rehabilitation is critical to returning
you to optimal function, including building strength, restoring range of
motion and preserving mobility. Our therapists work closely with your
orthopaedic surgeon to ensure you achieve the best possible results from
your replacement procedure.

We offer therapies such as ice, heat, electrical stimulation and
traction, manual techniques, Pilates programs, and education to restore a
healthy back and neck. With an emphasis on proper posture and body
mechanics, core strength, flexibility and stabilization, we can help you
return to work, sports and every day activities. Our goal is to provide
rehabilitation and education to treat your back and neck now, and to

Women's Health
As
women progress through puberty into their childbearing years and
beyond, they are faced with unique conditions and bone and joint issues
that can interfere with daily activities. Examples may include pelvic
floor dysfunction that can lead to pain and incontinence, low back and
hip pain associated with pregnancy and overstretched or weakened muscles
after childbirth, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis. Our physical
therapists can design a program specifically for you to help you
maintain a strong and healthy body and manage any related health issues
you may face.
Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis
Osteoarthritis
and osteoporosis are common problems that prevent older individuals
from participating in recreational activities, self-care and home
maintenance. Our therapists create individualized programs addressing
strength, flexibility, posture and balance to facilitate joint mobility,
improve bone density, prevent falls and promote an active and healthy
lifestyle.
Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema is a
collection of fluid that causes swelling (edema) in the arms and legs.
Normally, lymph nodes filter fluid as it flows through them, trapping
bacteria, viruses and other foreign substances, which are then destroyed
by special while blood cells known as lymphocytes. Without normal lymph
drainage, fluid can build up in the affected arm or leg, and lymphedema
can develop. We are proud to offer lymphedema therapy provided by
certified lymphedema therapists with extensive clinical experience.

jaw; injures to muscles of the head and neck such as whiplash or a
heavy blow; teeth clenching or grinding; osteoarthritis or rheumatoid
arthritis; stress or dislocation of the soft cushion between the ball
and socket of the joint. Our therapists can assess your condition and
provide treatment options to alleviate pain.
Pilates for rehabilitation
Pilates
techniques can be used to rehabilitate many orthopaedic and
neurological disorders such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis,
osteoporosis, knee conditions, shoulder conditions and spinal
conditions. Pilates is also effective in post-operative rehabilitation
for patients recovering from back, hip or knee surgery by allowing
patients to move earlier without pain, they can begin recovery more
quickly. Pilates can also help prevent many orthopaedic injuries, as
most injuries are caused by overuse or poor movement patterns, which
cause pain. Pilates is unique in that it is a neuromuscular exercise,
which means that it reeducates your body’s movement patterns to resolve
poor or pain-causing movements.
